Listen Online FAQ
How do I listen to Rocket FM online?
Whenever Rocket FM is broadcasting, a "Listen Live" button is displayed at the top of the right-hand column of each page in this website. Click the button and the "Rocket FM Player" window will pop up. After a few seconds you should hear Rocket FM.

Can I use my internet radio or smartphone to listen to Rocket FM?
If you have an internet radio device (IRD), also commonly called network music player (or web radio, net radio, streaming radio, e-radio, i-radio...), you should be able to use it to listen to Rocket FM provided your device has a feature enabling you to manually enter the address (URL) of the Rocket FM stream. The precise method for doing this depends on the device, so consult your product's user manual or support website if necessary.
Once you get to the stage where the device is asking you for the URL (or address) of the stream you wish to listen to, try entering one of the URL addresses in the list below. If you're not sure which one to use, we suggest you try the links in the order shown.

I don't see the "Listen Live" button
The most likely explanation is that Rocket FM is not currently on air. We only broadcast for a few weeks each year, in the run-up to Bonfire Night on November 5th. Check the
schedule for more details.

Nothing happens when I click the "Listen Live" button
Your browser might be configured to block pop-up windows such as the one used to display the Rocket FM Player. If this is the case, your browser will probably show a notification message near the top of its window when you click on the "Listen Live" button. The notification message normally includes buttons allowing you to configure your settings. Configure your browser to allow pop-ups from this website, then try the "Listen Live" button again.

The Rocket FM Player pop-up appears, but there's no sound
Assuming you've already checked that you have your volume turned up, check the following:
In order to hear the audio stream, your browser needs to have the free Windows Media Player plug-in installed. If you are using Internet Explorer on a PC, you should already have this. For users of other browsers, here are some links to articles explaining how to install the necessary plug-in:
See also Microsoft's Windows Media pages, or try searching for windows media plug-in for X, where X is the name of your browser.
Mac users are advised to read the Windows Media Player for Mac page.

I have a problem not listed above, or the advice above did not work for me
If you do not consider IT to be your strongest skill, you might first consider asking a more knowledgeable friend to take a look at your computer. Many problems prove trivial to fix for an IT-savvy person if they can actually sit in front of the computer concerned. If they manage to get it working for you, please let us know the details, as your experience might help another would-be listener.
If you don't have access to a suitable boffin, or if they are unable to resolve your problem, please contact us and tell us about your problem. The more information you provide, the more likely we will be able to help, so include as many of the following details as possible:
- The steps needed to get to the point at which something goes wrong (e.g. "I can see the 'Listen Live' button, and when I click on it the pop-up window appears...")
- The nature of the problem (e.g. "...but then nothing happens")
- What kind of computer you are using (e.g. Windows PC or Mac). If you are using something other than a computer (e.g. some kind of digital radio or hi-fi plug-in), let us know what kind.
- Which browser you are using (e.g. Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Opera, Chrome)
- Which version of the browser you are using (e.g. Internet Explorer version 8). Different browsers show this information in different ways: in the current version of Internet Explorer, for example, look in the Help menu (if you can't see this, look for a button displaying a question mark) and select the option "About Internet Explorer". The version number will be displayed in the following format: Version 8.0.7600.16385. We just need to know the major version number and the first decimal, in this case 8.0.
- Whether you are at home or at work
- If you are somewhere where there is more than one computer, whether the problem occurs on all the computers or just one
If the problem proves to be a simple one that might affect many people, we will try to provide you with a solution and include the details in our list of questions above. However, please note that Rocket FM is run by volunteers, and that we are likely to be particularly busy in the run up to Bonfire. Moreover, it is possible for problems to be caused by factors outside our control, and/or specific to your computer. For these reasons, we cannot guarantee a solution, although we can guarantee to wish you the best of luck instead!
