Night Shift
A new presenter on Rocket FM, Phil Curry’s shows will be loosely themed and will feature musings on music as well as special musical guests, who will add their comments and reminisce about how thing’s ain’t what they used to be. We also hope to bring you some acoustic music, live from the massive sound chair in the studio.
Shows:
October 13th: Persian Versions.
No, not a world music programme featuring Iranian finger-cymbal players. However, there are plenty of versions. Whose is the best version of All along the Watchtower? Dylan, Hendrix, Dave Mathews? On this programme we'll be talking about covers, versions and if there’s any difference between them.
October 27th: The EU's best kept secret: Danish popular music.
Some might consign it to the same bin as Euro-pop. The truth is that over the years, Denmark has produced a lot of killer rock and roll, good song writers and great musicians we never get to hear about - and a lot of it sung in English too.
November 3rd: Geetarrrr!
What's your favourite killer guitar solo. What was Clapton's 'woman tone' anyway? This programme is all about ace guitar licks and tone and searching for the unknown guitar hero. Listen in and hear stuff you never knew existed - like Sister Rosetta Tharp, the twanging nun, for example.
