Societies Fair '08

Rocketeers manned the Rocket stand at the town hall in Lewes East Sussex England on 12 July for the Societies Fair; over forty societies were there..not bad for a town of 17,000!

Some useful contacts were made, including two people who want to do a show on Rocket FM, and the Fair raised a considerable sum for a local charity.

  • Final statistics for the fair; 50 groups in total booked, 49 arrived on the day (!); 2,300 people came in through the doors and £1007 was raised for the Victoria Hospital, given to the Friends of Lewes Victoria Hospital to buy a bed.

Many thanks to Rocket for posting something about the Fair; it is gradually more noticed every year and each new mention helps bring in more visitors..Breakfast Show listeners will get a chance to hear from the Friends of Lewes Victoria Hospital more about what they do in an interview in October, thanks to Dino kindly saying he will have me back as co-pilot in the Autumn this year. Our third fabulous year together. Someone even called me Ruth Bishop recently but I have to tell you all there is no truth in this rumour!!
