COLOUR SUPPLEMENT - DG OFF TO CANADA

Official picture of headless chicken Rocket FM goes on air in less than a week's time.  We are all tearing around like headless chickens getting everything ready.  And what does the Director-General do?  Chickens out.  Gives us the bird.  Swans off to Canada, that's what he does.

Rocket DG Andy Thomas surveying Niagara Falls Naturally, one can't expect the Deege actually to work, as if he were one of his minions.  Unthinkable!  Nevertheless, just living the life of a Media Baron - ordering people about and drinking cups of tea (and pints of Newcastle Brown) - has exhausted him terribly.  As he gazes sadly over the water feature at the end of his garden (especially installed for him by Charlie Dimmock), he wonders whether it is really all worth while.

The Deege points at the Skylon Tower He did perk up a bit later, though, after a tour of inspection of the Rocket Broadcasting Corporation of North America's new transmission tower.  It's not quite as impressive as the one in Lewes, but he is very pleased with it all the same.  In the photo, the Deege (closely protected by one of his bodyguards) proudly points to his latest erection.

And you will notice how, just for the Deege, the moon and the stars come out in the daytime to pay tribute to him!  (Fault in the photo? What fault in the photo?)  Also, if you examine the photo carefully (though we perfectly understand if you choose not to), the Deege is accompanied by his personal rainbow.  Needless to say, the Deege's rainbow has a crock of ill-gotten gold at both ends.

The Deege outside Thomas House, built 1829 At the end of a tiring tour of his enormous facility, the Deege was happy to return to his Canadian mansion, having parked his Hispano-Suiza White Van in the quintuple garage.  (You can tell how happy he is by the way his eyes are shining.)  He has always been deeply fond of Thomas House, because it is one of the first of the palaces that he built, when he was quite a young man.

We hope to see the Deege back in Lewes, recovered and refreshed (if not cured of his megalomania) by the time Rocket goes on air.  We know he'll be back, because we can see his passport in his breast pocket.  It's a forged passport, of course - he likes to travel anonymously.
