ROCKET HONOURED BY THE MAYOR
The Mayor of Lewes, Councillor Rod Crocker, held a reception in December 2004 to honour all those who worked so hard, both on-air and behind the scenes, to bring Rocket to the world.
The Mayor told the assembled members of East Sussex Radio Society
and distinguished guests (including Norman Baker MP and Councillor Michael Chartier, Chair of
Lewes District Council), that the Town wished to recognise the efforts and the success of the
Society in mounting Rocket FM, which is manned entirely by local volunteers.
The Society's Chairman, Andy Thomas, moved a vote of thanks to the Mayor and Mayoress and
presented the Mayor with the latest-design Rocket FM T-shirt. He said that the honour done to the Society
had given the members a boost and that plans are already taking shape to make the 2005 season
even better, bearing in mind it will be the 400th anniversary of the Gunpowder Plot.
